This document looks into the killing of human rights defender Rosemary Nelson and highlights the lack of credibility of the RUC to carry out the investigation of her murder. Amnesty International is urging the government to establish a genuinely independent investigation. The document gives a brief account of the campaign of intimidation, harassment and threats that she suffered from members of the police and the army and the failure to take measures to protect her. It finishes with UN Special Rapporteur’s recommendations concerning the intimidation of lawyers in Northern Ireland.
